It’s early August in Edinburgh and the smell of greasepaint and comedians’ tears hangs in the air already. But the world’s biggest arts festival is not the only show in town over the next few weeks.

Now in its fifth year, Foodies Festival returns to Holyrood Park for the three days beginning Friday 12 August. Tickets are normally £10 each but 5pm are running a 2-4-1 deal which you can book here.

Over three days, you are looking at a packed picnic hamper of top notch Scottish chefs giving demos; drinks masterclasses; a cook school; an entertainment stage and a wide selection of Scotland’s most interesting producers showing their wares.

As well as Fringe acts such as Tim Vine, Four Poofs and a Piano plus The Hamiltons demonstrating their often unorthodox approach to cooking (Tim Vine cooked popcorn with the aid of boxing gloves last year); one of the Foodies’ highlights will be the demos from high profile chefs.

The esteemed pan rattlers include Scottish Restaurant Awards Chef of the Year Neil Forbes of Cafe St Honore; Jacqueline O’Donnell of The Sisters; Michelin star holder Tony Borthwick of The Plumed Horse; Paul Whitecross of Angels with Bagpipes; Paul Tamburrini of The Honours and Mattia Camorani, top dog in Cucina at Hotel Missoni and winner of the Scottish Restaurant Awards of the Year Italian category.

It’s a tasty line-up and, oh, did we mention that you can book 2-4-1 tickets here?
