Whisky masterclasses are a popular sport at Foodies

OK, this morning Edinburgh does look like a duck pond but, having just checked the Beeb’s site, the weather does look set to improve at the weekend. Rain seems to be off the menu on Saturday and the Met are even hinting at sunshine on Sunday.

All good news for the fifth Edinburgh Foodies Festival which takes place in Holyrood Park for three days from Friday.

Tickets are usually £10 per person but 5pm have teamed up with Foodies to offer a 2-4-1 deal which you can book here.

As we have blethered before, Foodies is a tasty mix of chef demos; a local producers’ market; food stalls; restaurant tents; bar pagodas and live entertainment from Fringe acts.

It also boasts a packed schedule of food and drink masterclasses. You can see the full run down here but the blog’s eye was caught by the cheese and beer tasting from Edinburgh Larder at 4.30pm on Saturday and the Glenrothes Whisky tastings which take place each day at 2.45pm.

The blog has done a Glenrothes whisky tasting before and they are a little different from most whisky tastings.

All the masterclasses are free. You just have to sign up for them when you get to the festival.

Oh yes, you can get two tickets for the price of one through 5pm. Clicky here.
