Pipe bands from around the globe will be competing at The Worlds on Saturday

Piping Live!, the world’s biggest piping festival, will be hitting all the right notes as it gets underway in Glasgow today.

It culminates on Saturday with the World Pipe Band Championship taking place on Glasgow Green but from concerts to bagpipe try-outs there are plenty of other events in the run up to the competition.

On George Square, from today onwards, twenty of Glasgow’s best restaurants will be holding tastings to coincide with the festival.

Today’s participating restaurants are The Bothy, Grosvenor, The Sisters and Mr Singh’s but the full list of all the restaurants taking part is here.

All of the restaurants are members of the Glasgow Restaurant Association and they are all taking part in the Gourmet Glasgow Dinearound promotion which means that they are offering two or three course menus for £15.95 until the end of August.

The price also includes a dram of Glenfiddich.

If you like what you taste on George Square then you can book onto the Dinearound menus through 5pm from here.
