Lock up your pies! The Masterchef team are coming to Glasgow

The leaves are falling from the trees; the leccy and gas companies have just hiked their prices and the BBC Good Food Show is coming to the SECC. It must be autumn.

Spearheading the Beeb’s fifth Scottish Good Food Show, which takes place in Glasgow from Friday 21-Sunday 23 October, is a crack team of celeb chefs.

As well as home grown kitchen stars such as Nick Nairn and Tom Kitchen, the sleb line-up includes Simon Rimmer, housewives’ fave James Martin and the Mad Professor of the last Masterchef series Tim ‘I think I might just add some pickled soy dreams’ Anderson.

Natch, John and Gregg Masterchef will be present and correct and there will be lots of opportunity to stock up for Christmas in the various producers’ villages.

As you might expect, there is a very strong Scottish taste to the producers’ markets and the whisky companies are going to be very well represented.

Waste reduction is also going to be a big theme at this year’s bash. Apparently, every Scottish household throws away some £430 worth of food every year and a squad of chefs will be manning the Winter Kitchens to demonstrate how we can do better.
