If your thoughts are turning to the weekend then you might want to take a look at the Glasgow Harvest.

Organised by the maverick arts body NVA, the Glasgow Harvest is a celebration of local food which is being hosted by community gardens in the four corners of Glasgow over the next four weekends.

Conceived as a tongue in cheek salute to the village fete, each of the four harvests will feature demos, live music, visual art, shared meals and competitions.

The first event, Harvest South, takes place in Toryglen and is hosted by Urban Roots. Pakora-making classes, pick-your-own salads, tasting stations and a communal meal are all part of the event which is free and runs from noon to 4pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring along a veggie dish to share.

Harvest South is linked to Blasda, The Fife Diet and is running under the umbrella of Scottish Food Fortnight.

Check back tomorrow for more news about Blasda’s celebration of Scottish food and more suggestions for grub-related stuff to do at the weekend.
