Cafe Gurkha

Edinburgh has a new Nepalese restaurant in the form of the Gurkha Cafe which recently opened its doors on Cockburn Street.

Until recently the premises housed one of Pierre Levicky’s Chez Jules restaurants.

The new venture offers a fusion of Indian, Pakistani, Himalayan and Nepalese dishes.

This means that alongside familiar bhoonas and vindaloo curries there are Nepalese specialities such as mo-mo pot-stickers and bhuteko khasi, a lamb dish cooked with green chilli, garlic and spring onion in a thick sauce.
