Local produce is at the heart of dozens of events this weekend

As you know (if you’ve been paying attention, scamps) we are in the the thick of Scottish Food Fortnight and a feast of related events.

One of the several strands running this weekend is the Blasda series of events. Named after the Gaelic for ‘tasty’, Blasda aims to celebrate Scottish food. It has grown from the Fife Diet project which encourages people to eat local, seasonal produce.

Many Blasda-linked events take place tomorrow and you can scope them all out here.

One of the biggest to have affiliated itself is eatBute. Based at Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute, this is the fourth time that the islanders have run a big party to shout about all the fab food they produce on Bute and in the surrounding Argyll area.

Taking place this weekend, there will be a Victorian market, cookery demos, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, a food and crafts market and, obviously, a 3D wall of jam sculpture which visitors are being asked to contribute to.
