Tapela on Glasgow’s Bath Street may have gone to the great restaurant rest place in the sky but it hasn’t taken long for a new venture to set up stall in the recently vacated basement space.

Kuta is a bar diner where the food takes its cue from the Far East and much of the drinks menu is fuelled by rum. According to their blurb, the bar is in association with Kraken Rum and the black, spiced spirit is prominent in quite a few of Kuta’s cocktails.

The food is a mix of Oriental greatest hits: tom yum soup, spring rolls, spice glazed pork belly and butter chicken served on noodles.

Of course, it’s almost illegal for a bar not to have a burger on the menu. Kuta’s comes spiced and served with mango chutney and sweet potato crisps.
