Martin Wishart: happy holder of a new Michelin star at Cameron House Hotel

Without going all Gwyneth Paltrow on you, the blog was delighted to see Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond get a Michelin star last week.

I could blether on about the importance of Wishart gaining his first star at Restaurant Martin Wishart in Leith ten years ago and how that helped sow the seeds for Scotland’s currently glowing gastro reputation.

But you know all that.

Instead, let’s just say that he is a thoroughly decent bloke who seldom blows his own trumpet but who has quietly and steadily gone about building a mini-empire of fine dining restaurants; his cook school and his much talked about new brasserie The Honours.

Wishart said of the award: ‘We are extremely happy with today’s award, exactly 10 years after receiving our first Michelin Star for Restaurant Martin Wishart in Leith .

‘The team at the Cameron House restaurant is very deserving of this recognition and my thanks go to Head Chef Stewart Boyels as well as Miguel Rivero, who was recently promoted to Restaurant Manager and has been at the restaurant since it opened in 2008. Stewart has consistently delivered excellent food. His skill and creativity along with Miguel’s passion for exceptional service have gone a long way to driving the restaurant forward.

‘I think this is great for the restaurant industry in Scotland , raising the reputation of Scottish cuisine to include the West.’

Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond is a 5pm member and you can book in for a Michelin-starred meal here.

Wishart’s restaurant is part of the Cameron House Hotel resort which also features several other dining options which have recently become part of the 5pm restaurant booking service.

Through 5pm, you can also book into the Cameron Grill restaurant; the Claret Jug clubhouse restaurant and The Boathouse at the marina which offers informal dining by the lochside.
