Glasgow's Kama Sutra is expanding across the country

Openings, closures, revamps and repositionings, it’s all happening in the restaurant world.

At the weekend, the blog noticed that Club India on Edinburgh’s Lothian Road has turned up its toes. In its place, a new Kama Sutra is taking shape.

Scheduled to open mid-November, the Indian restaurant will be part of a mini-chain which includes the original Kama Sutra on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street and the new Kama Sutra which has just opened in Stirling.

All three are owned by the same company which has Slumdog, Torres and Ashoka at the Mill in Glasgow.

You can check out the 5pm deals at all the restaurants just by clicking on their names. For example, the Glasgow Kama Sutra is offering 5pm customers a 20% discount on the a la carte menu.

Returning to Edinburgh, it’s time to mention The Mulroy, a new Scottish/French place which has opened on William Street in the West End.

Apparently, it’s owned by an aristocratic Hungarian called Clemens Hoss-d’Estenfeld Macdonald which is possibly the sort of restaurant owner’s name which can only be found in Edinburgh.

The chef is Damien Rolain who previously rattled the pans at L’Escargot Bleu.

Richard Bath has written a review in Scotland On Sunday.

Finally, this isn’t a new opening but MsMarmitelover, queen of the underground supper club scene, has penned a colourful blog about her recent visit to the supper clubs of Edinburgh.
