The Highland Chocolatier finishes another top choc masterpiece

The Homes & Interiors Scotland Exhibition gets underway at the SECC on Friday and, as well showcasing the best of Scotland’s design talent, it also has plenty to offer the dedicated scoffer.

As it happens, today’s 5pm Big Deal is offering two tickets to the exhibition for £7 so you can feast on all the foodie fun that the event has to offer without beating up the bank account. You can buy the Big Deal tix here. They are valid for any one of the event’s three day duration.

Among the attractions are numerous chefs’ demos in the Design Theatre. Chef John Quigley (right) takes some time out from his acclaimed Red Onion restaurant to demonstrate some dinner party classics such as Finnan Haddie risotto with seared scallops and a classic tarte tatin.

Jacqueline O’Donnell of Glasgow’s Sister restaurants  in Kelvingrove and Jordanhill will be at the demo area in the Christmas Fair where she will be creating bite-sized takes on Christmas dishes, including slithers of roast duck with spiced orange and rocket pesto.

One of the hottest tickets at last year’s show were the chocolate tasting demos run by the Highland Chocolatier Iain Burnett. Treat yourself to a ticket to one of the 30-minute slots and you’ll get to share some of the secrets behind Iain’s gourmet truffles and, more importantly, get to sample some of the chocolates for yourself.
Places are limited and tickets costing £5 are available on a first come first served basis from the Subscription and Information desk.

Also likely to attract the crowds are the wine tasting sessions run by the Ubiquitous Chip. Wine tasting tickets cost £5 per person and ticket holders receive a bottle of wine. Places are limited and tickets are available on a first come first served basis from the Subscription and Information desk.
