Khushi's is coming back from the flames

Three years after a fire knocked the Victoria Street branch out of action, Khushi’s Indian restaurant is resurfacing in Edinburgh.

The Massimo’s on Antigua Place has vanished from its spot opposite the Playhouse and, in its place, a new branch of Khushi’s is taking shape.

There doesn’t seem to be an exact opening date but they are taking bookings for Christmas.

The new Khushi’s will join the upmarket Mithas on Dock Place which we blogged about here. Both restaurants are owned by the same family.

Mithas is one of the finalists in the Indian Restaurant of the Year category at the Scottish Restaurant Awards.

The business was founded by Khushi Mohammed back in 1947 and the Khushi’s brand can lay a strong claim to having been the first Indian restaurant in Scotland.

You can book into 5pm’s Indian restaurants in Edinburgh here and Glasgow’s massive range of Indian restaurants can be booked here.
