A little blue birdie tells the blog that a new bar is preparing to open in Glasgow’s West End in four or so weeks.

Called The Dukes, it is being fitted out on 41 Old Dumbarton Road, near Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Tasty bites; drinks including Asahi on draught; cool music and the occasional live act are promised.

The site has quite some history. According to Old Glasgow Pubs, it first started pouring in 1877. I vaguely remember it being Bar Booshka vodka bar in the Nineties and since then it has been Transit Bar and, I think, Rogue.

Remarkably, The Clash played there in May 1985 as part of their Busking Tour. If the new owners can pull off anything similar then hats will be doffed.
