Mattia Camorani, Head Chef at Cucina at Hotel Missoni (3rd from left), picks up the Best Italian of the Year Award for the second year in a row

The Scottish Restaurant Awards, co-sponsored by 5pm and held in Glasgow on Monday, were a happy occasion for Cucina at Hotel Missoni. For the second time running, Head Chef Mattia Camorani and his team scooped the Best Italian Restaurant of the Year award. The restaurant beat off strong competition from the Italian Caffe in Glasgow and Osteria in North Berwick.

Camorani said, ‘We’re delighted to be named as Best Italian Restaurant 2012 and it’s a real honour to receive this award for the second year running. I’m so proud of all of our team, and this award is a testament to the passion, hard work and dedication of everyone involved with Cucina, both front of house and behind the scenes.

‘Last year was an exciting and busy year for Cucina, and this award is a great start to what is set to be another eventful and enjoyable year. We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support and we look forward to a great year ahead!’

Authentic, seasonal menus and a lot of respect for regional culinary traditions are at the heart of Cucina’s success. If you want to taste the food that wowed the award judges then Cucina is currently running a number of 5pm offers.
