It is all go in Glasgow with numerous new restaurants and bars opening their doors.

Yesterday saw the launch of Le Bistro Beaumartin, which as you may have guessed, is as French as Edith Piaf smoking a Gitanes while wearing a stripey shirt and swinging a string of onions.

The Hope Street restaurant offers quintessential French dishes such as warm chicken liver salads, onion soup, garlic snails and steak frites. Yes, they also sell frogs’ legs.

At lunch, they serve a selection of tartines, or open sarnies, with sauteed spuds and salad for £8.50.

On the Indian food front, Akbars has opened on the Sauchiehall Street premises formerly occupied by Balbir’s Tiffin Rooms. It’s the first Scottish branch of a rapidly growing chain of Indian restaurants which started in Bradford in 1995.

We’ll bring you more info on Monday.

We’re a bit behind on this but, yesterday, we also spotted the No 1 Chocolate Factory which has opened on St Georges Road at Charing X.

A cafe, chocolate shop and chocolate production facility, the airy space opened in February. As well as children’s chocolate parties, they also run chocolate masterclasses for adults.
