Cabaret Voltaire is re-opening. you can do your own gags about the door staff

Cabaret Voltaire on Edinburgh’s Blair Street re-opens today.

After being taken over by the G1 Group a couple of months back, the entire venue has been refreshed; a new ground floor bar has been created, new DJ talent has been enlisted, bands booked, drinks list written and windows discovered.

No longer just a club, it’s also an afternoon hangout; evening drinks venue and, of course, a banging club and live music spot.

Open from noon to 3am seven days a week, the Cab has lined up all sorts of DJs and club nights which are probably bang on trend but, TBH, I’m too old to recognise. If Chungo-Bungo, iAM or Horse Meat Disco mean anything to you then you’re well ahead of me.

Of more relevance to the 5pm blog is the fact that the Cab will be serving food for the first time. Obviously, truffle foams and carpaccio of yellowfin tuna ain’t on the menu but if you fancy a pizza to soak up the beer then you’ve come to the right place.

Served in pizza boxes, the Cab’s range runs from a simple buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and basil to pizza topped with free range chicken and chorizo.
