Blue Dog’s Bloody Moreish: possibly counts as one of your five a day

The blog has been unusually booze-oriented this week and today is no exception.

The latest bar to top up our glass is Glasgow’s long running Blue Dog.

Open since 2003, Blue Dog is one of Glasgow’s oldest and most successful late-night cocktail bars. In the run-up to the bar’s tenth birthday, the premises have just had a five figure facelift.

Think along the lines of a New York-loft style interior with exposed brick feature walls, stylish wood panelling and re-upholstered banquette seating. A brand new stage space has also been created for the bar’s hugely successful jazz nights.

As well as a new look, the bar staff have been busy inventing new cocktails. You might want to try A Bloody Moreish, made with Bombay Sapphire, Gabriel Boudier Rhubarb Liqueur, basil, mixed herbs, rhubarb & ginger jam, Worcester sauce, Tabasco & tomato juice. That must count as one of your five a day?

On Thursday, Blue Dog is having a party to celebrate the revamp. Doors open at 6pm.

The people behind Blue Dog also own the popular wine bar Vroni’s. If you head over to our Big Deal page, we are currently running a deal with Vroni’s.

£10 will buy a voucher for two main courses and two glasses of the house wine. Click here for full details.
