Homer Simpsom ties: quite far down your Dad’s wish list

Today’s blog has a fairly but not absolutely clear gender divide. In corner, we bring you news of the champagne afternoon tea and flower arranging course which is taking place at Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin on Sunday.

In the other corner, we have the special Father’s Day lunch in One Restaurant at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.

If you want to know how to make the most of your magnolias and present the perfect petunias then book into Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin for a flower arranging demo with Mood Flowers. While you enjoy a champagne afternoon tea, the experts will show you how to design a bonzer bouquet.

The event will take place on Sunday the 17th of June from 2pm until around 5pm.

Tickets are £35 (plus £1.05 booking fee) per person. Book in here.

Incidentally, we’ve said it before but we will say it again, Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin has just introduced their new menu and it’s a cracker. We recommend the steak tartare. Book a table through 5pm and you’ll get a rather splendiferous 25% of food and drink from the a la carte.

Alternatively, Sunday is Father’s Day and, while he always puts on a brave smile, your old man is probably tired of ironic bottles of Brut and ties with Homer Simpson printed on them.

Feed him up for a change by taking him along to the Crowne Plaze in Glasgow. Their One Restaurant is running a 3 course Father’s Day roast lunch.

The Father’s Day lunch is available this Sunday, obviously, with sittings available 1pm-4pm.

Tickets are £18.50 (plus 56p booking fee) per person from here.

Please ensure you provide a valid contact number at time of booking, as the restaurant will call you to confirm your desired arrival time.

Free parking is available, which will save a lot of grumpiness, and children under the age of 11 dine for free.
