Not every dinner date goes so well

If you’re planning on any summer loving then you may be interested in the results of a survey from the relationship site eHarmony. After quizzing over a thousand of its members on their dating habits, the site discovered that almost as many men as women admit to eating less on a date. Thirty five percent of men compared with 40 percent of women admit to eating less, presumably to appear ‘more attractive’ in front of their date.

What you order on a date also has a definite impression on your partner with 25 percent of men admitting to being ‘turned off’ by a woman who orders the most expensive dish on the menu. Thirty four percent feel the same way about a date who orders nothing at all.

Surprisingly, the only thing more off putting to a man than a woman ordering a glass of champagne is one who orders a glass of milk. Although, to be honest, if a woman ordered a glass of milk in a restaurant then I’d be worrying that she had just taken her school tie off before entering the restaurant.

When it comes to men and drinks, Pina Coladas are to be avoided – a rule that should be applied to life in general, not just dating. When women were asked for their impressions of what a man drinks on a date, 25 percent said a Pina Colada was the least attractive tipple, suggesting that the drink is perceived as ‘too feminine’. If you want to look more rugged then whisky on the rocks is the way to go with 62% of women voting it as the most masculine drink order

Overall, 65 percent of women and 55 percent of men agree that a simple, informal drink in a relaxed setting is more appealing than a romantic, candlelit dinner.
