The Sultan Cafe Kitchen: firing up the chargrill on Cockburn Street

Not a great weekend, all in all. Taste of Edinburgh flooded out on the Saturday and Sunday and then a Monday morning where it’s raining like Andy Murray’s tears.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Not by a long way.

First up, welcome to the Sultan Cafe Kitchen, a new Kurdish and Middle Eastern restaurant which has opened on Edinburgh’s Cockburn Street.

It is in its very early days and has yet to establish any sort of online presence but you can find it at the top of the Fleshmarket Close where Avalanche Records used to be.

Baba ganoush, fatoush, humus, stews and various chargrilled meats are all on the menu. The 5pm blog can heartily recommend the sweet, sticky, nut-packed baklawa.
