Excitement is beginning to build for the big series of festivals which will take place in Edinburgh in August. But you don’t need to be on the eastern end of the M8 to capture some of the excitement.

As part of their takeover makeover series, cafe bar and restaurant in Glasgow’s Arches is playing host to a pre-Fringe warm-up for Rob Drummond’s show Bullet Catch.

The magic/theatre piece is at the Trav in Edinburgh during August but on the evenings of Thursday 12th, 19th and 26th July, you can catch it at The Arches along with a themed three course meal.

The restaurant has been re-designed with a hocus-pocus theme. David Copperfield, Paul Daniels and the famous escapologist Houdini adorn the walls while giant playing card mats, white rabbits and a magic hand complete with handkerchiefs furnish the space.

The themed three course meal and performance cost a knock-down £9.95. You can view the full menu on the 5pm restaurant site here.

The 5pm blog always has a healthy appetite for puns so we loved the Asparakadabra asparagus salad and laughed heartily at the Disa ‘pear’ ing Act, a pear dessert.

The fish of the day, naturally, is known as the Bullet Catch of the Day.

Mr Drummond’s trailer clip should whet your appetite for the show.
