The Bon Vivant burger: a thing of beauty

The Bon Vivant bar on Edinburgh’s Thistle Street has been long been a lively, bustling boozer with a great variety of champagne; many appealing cocktails and a funky food menu that encourages customers to try lots of bite sized dishes. It’s the tapas way of eating given a turbo charge.

Recently, the brand has expanded and opened a new branch on Dean Street in Stockbridge. Formerly The Avoca, the premises have been given a makeover and now have the same pleasantly dim lighting as the original along with lots of wine box installations and old drinks pics. Shabby chic is the vibe.

They have a stonking wine list with around 30 bottles available by the glass and, obviously, oodles of cocktails.

The food menu is evolving but look out for dishes such as salt ‘n’ pepper whitebait; black pudding with tomato and chilli jam; chorizo in cider and the rather fine looking Bon Vivant burger which is pictured above.

The new Bon Vivant only opened around three weeks ago but the team behind the bar have not been resting on their laurels. If you are up by Waterloo Place then you might want to put your nose around the door at Pep and Fodder – a new cafe from the Bon Vivant boys.
