The Mercat in Edinburgh’s West End has launched a dedicated whisky bar

The Mercat Bar and Restaurant in Edinburgh’s West End is always up to something interesting. From wine dinners to race days, they’re not ones to rest on their laurels when a new promo could be put in place.

The latest addition to their offer is a new dedicated whisky bar in the recently refurbished basement area. They currently have around 60 bottles in stock but aim to boos that to around 300. Of the bottles available, they range from popular blends to rare cask strength whiskies from distilleries such as the now disbanded Little Mill.

This distillery, formerly located in West Dunbartonshire, was established in 1772 and claimed to be Scotland’s oldest distillery. It was disbanded in 1997 and only a limited amount of its produce is now available.

The Mercat will be holding a special whisky tasting event on 27 September to mark the official launch of the whisky bar.

Tickets are £25pp and include whisky samples and finger food.
