Emma Kennedy: actor, writer, MasterChef winner and quinoa warrior

Get your calendars on screen for the BBC Good Food Show Scotland which takes place at the SECC Glasgow from the 19-21 October 2012.

Among the famous faces rattling the pans and looking sternly at sponge cakes will be the MasterChef hosts and judges, John Torode and Gregg Wallace alongside other celebrity chefs such as James Martin, Paul Hollywood, Mary Berry, The Hairy Bikers and Tom Kitchin.

Great British Bake Off

As well as bringing the Great British Bake Off live to the stage, there will be plenty of sleb cook offs. As always, these things thrive on pointless jeopardy and manufactured competition.

This event’s most hyped culinary gladiators, who will be slugging it out over the induction hob in the Supertheatre, are Emma Kennedy and Shelina Permalloo; two recent winners in the ever-expanding MasterChef franchise.

At the pre-cook off weigh in, Emma said, ‘I’m so excited about my first appearance at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland and I can’t wait to go toe to toe with Shelina. If anyone thinks they can beat my boeuf Bourguignon then bring it on. My rhubarb crumble is ready to rumble and nobody, I mean nobody, quarrels with my quinoa, you hear me? I will burn your ginger bread house to the ground!’

Celebrity cook off

On no, sorry, my mistake. She didn’t say that at all.

What she actually said was ‘I’m so excited about my first appearance at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland. Celebrity MasterChef has given me a real taste for all things foodie and I’m looking forward to browsing the fantastic producers on offer from Scotland! Plus of course my first cook-off with Shelina: I can’t quite believe that I’m going to be judged by John and Gregg again so soon! Some may say a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire but I’m really excited about being there.’
