Glasgow’s Indian restaurants will rise again

There has been disappointment in Glasgow today after Bradford was announced as the Curry Capital of Britain 2012.

Glasgow, which has won the competition four times previously, was pipped to the post by the Bradford restaurants in a tie-break. Both cities had been awarded equal points by the judges but Bradford’s public vote was greater than Glasgow’s and swung the competition in favour of the West Yorkshire city.

Runners up

This is the fifth time that Glasgow has been given runner up status in the curry competition having lost out to Bradford last year.

Naturally, the 5pm blog would like to extend our sympathies to Glasgow’s brave tikka team which consisted of Koolba, Mr Singh’s India, Mother India and Neelim.

Consolation curry

Not that we are going to be crying into our kormas for very long. There is always next year and besides, could there possibly be a better excuse to go out for a Ruby?

As always, the 5pm restaurant booking service has plenty of great deals on Indian meals. You can browse all the the Glaswegian Indian restaurants which are 5pm members by clicking here while Edinburgh’s masala masters can be found here.
