Le Brunch is a new feature at Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin

The Americans may have invented brunch but Hotel du Vin is doing its best to perfect it by adding a little French flair.

Recently launched in Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin Bistro, Le Brunch is a Sunday afternoon gastronomic extravaganza – the only downside is that you may not be awake to watch Downton Abbey if you manage all four courses.

Crustacea

Le Brunch starts with soup of the day before a visit to the French Market Table. The centrepiece of Le Brunch, this is a table heaving with fresh seafood, crustacea, charcuterie, pâtés, rilletes and a selection of salads, vegetables and freshly baked artisan breads.

From there, it is on to a selection of popular main courses such as the salmon Hollandaise; grilled plaice; risotto Milanese; the house roast; a buffalo mozzarella and plum tomato tart and, naturally, the impressive Bistro burger.

Profiteroles

If dessert is still an option then choices include apple crumble with custard, profiteroles, the artisan cheeseboard and crème brulée.

Alternatively, there is Le Grand Sunday Roast with traditional Sunday lunch with all the trimmings, served family style within a private dining room.

Le Brunch is available each Sunday from noon until 3pm at any Hotel du Vin for £19.95 per person for 4 courses. Children under 12yrs are £9.95 from the children’s menu or the main menu.
