Back at the end of August, we blogged about the Hilton Glasgow and how they had remodelled their ground floor to introduce three new eating and drinking areas.

Connich is their new bar; Morblas Seafood & Grill is the new restaurant and Ti Lounge, named after the Gaelic for tea, does what it says on the tin.

Launch party

Last week, they hosted their official launch party. With Counselled Out providing the music; Spinal Chord providing the aerial entertainment and the Hilton providing lashings of drinks and seemingly endless nibbles, it was a stonker of a bash.

I particularly liked their  Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea which featured a curious little bottle filled with blue liquid. It was tagged with a label which simply said ‘Drink me’.

Rabbit hole

Apparently, it won’t make you fall down a rabbit hole but it all looked very exotic, especially as there was plenty of dry ice cascading from tea pots at the time.

Nelson Mandela

The refurbishment helped mark Hilton Glasgow’s 20th birthday. Over the last two decades, the hotel has hosted everyone from Nelson Mandela and Bill Clinton to James Brown and Duran Duran.

Among the oddball stats revealed on the night was the quirky calculation that over the course of its life the kitchens at the Hilton Glasgow had cooked enough tattie scones to cover the pitch at Hampden over twenty times.
