Boudoir celebrates its second birthday on Friday

This weekend is shaping up to be a busy one on the food front in the west of the country and, naturally, the 5pm blog has the skinny on events.

On Saturday, the broadcaster and writer Sally Magnusson will officially open Billington’s Deli & Ice Cream in Lenzie.

Billed as Lenzie’s first artisan food and drink outlet, the writer will be launching the premises with a signing session of her new book Horace and the Haggis Hunter.

Ice cream

Located next door to the train station, the new venture is the brainchild of Mark and Sue Billington. Mark was a buyer at Harrods in London before relocating to Scotland, where he worked as a director at Paperino’s.

The centrepiece of the new outlet is Billington’s ice cream which will be hand-mixed on a cold marble slab using ingredients chosen by customers.

Birthday party

Back in the centre of own, Boudoir Wine Bar in Merchant Square is celebrating its second birthday on Friday night.

A welcome drink and free canapés will help get the party started while the entertainment on offer includes singer/songwriter John Rush; jazzy blues and soul from The Blue Eyed Duo followed by French funk and house music. From midnight, Paul G will be tinkling the ivories and Terry the magician will also be popping in to astound guests with his tricks and charm.

Wine sampling

Proprietor Darren Scott said: ‘We might only be two years old, but already Boudoir is busier – and more successful – than we could have imagined. Since opening, we’ve introduced a number of popular initiatives, including: the introduction of our regular Wine Lick sampling evenings; our Sunday live music slot and live piano music on Thursday evenings.’

Boudoir’s second birthday bash takes place from 5pm till 2am on Friday 9th November.
