Time for the mo’ to go

As Movember draws to a close, it’s a time of mixed emotions. Those of us with magnificent, waxed, handlebar moustaches may be sorry to see them go.

Those with patchy, ginger bum fluff are more likely to heave a sigh of relief as they scrape a razor across their upper lip.

Charity

However you feel about your ‘tache, Movember has raised a shedload of cash for charity.

The Butchershop Bar and Grill on Sauchiehall Street is marking the end of Movember with a final charity bash: the Movember Closing Party.

Taking place this evening, guests are invited to party like their ‘tache depends on it. A Belvedere cocktail and a four course meal are included in the £25.95 entry price. Proceeds go to Movember and CLIC Sargent.

Magnificent moustache

As well as the grub and grog, attractions include a prize for the most magnificent moustache; tashtastic raffles and not only prizes for Mr Movember but also Miss Movember. XFM DJ Paul N’Jie will be manning the decks.

The night will begin with foie gras cromesquis canapes and a Belvedere cocktail on arrival.

Moustaches suitably tickled, guests will then enjoy an appetiser of hot smoked salmon rillette with avocado and radish salad, followed by white balsamic marinated sliced rump of Scottish beef with sweet potato fritters, grilled figs and creamed spinach with a red wine jus.

Dessert is chocolate tart, salted caramel, honeycomb, Amaretto and Chantilly cream.

Glasgow Restaurant Awards

Along with Brian Maule at Chardon d’Or and Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery, The Butchershop Bar and Grill are in the running for the Posh Nosh category at the Glasgow Restaurant Awards.

The winner will be announced in an awards ceremony at the Citz on Monday 10th December.
