We realise that Christmas is still to come but you don’t need to be a woggle-joggling scout to benefit from the old advice to ‘be prepared’.

In this case, you should be prepared for Hogmanay – possibly the most eagerly anticipated date of the festive season, at least in Scotland.

If you have yet to make your Hogmanay arrangements and don’t fancy seeing in 2013 in the company of Jools Holland and his hootenanny then we have a suggestion to make.

Ceilidh dinner

This Hogmanay, the Trades Hall of Glasgow will be playing host to a fantastic Hogmanay Ceilidh Dinner.

Situated in the Merchant City, the Trades Hall is one of the most important, historic buildings in Glasgow. Designed and built from 1791-1794 by Robert Adam and his brothers, the Trades Hall was built to serve as a public hall and meeting place for the city’s Trades House and Incorporated Crafts.

Entry to Corinthian Club

It’s a suitably grand place for this glam black tie party. Starting at 7.30pm with a glass of bubbly, the evening includes a four course meal, ceilidh band and, for the over 18s, complimentary entry on the guest list of the nearby Corinthian Club.

The Trades Hall event finishes at 1am by which time the party will be well underway at the Corinthian. Incidentally, the Corinthian bash finishes at 6am – perfect for party people who never want the fun to stop.

The menu for the dinner is as follows:

Gateaux of Macsween haggis, neeps and tatties with braised shallot and a creamy whisky sauce

Cock a leekie soup

Baked breast of chicken accompanied with a woodland mushroom mousse, pink peppercorn sauce and winter vegetables

Sugar-glazed lemon tart with raspberry syrup

Book tickets

Adult tickets for the event cost £65 (+£1.95 booking fee) per person. The Hogmanay Ceilidh Dinner takes place on the 31st December, 7.30pm-1am,

All bookings must be confirmed with full pre-payment in advance of date. Guest may be required to share a table subject to party size.
