Burns: you’ll be seeing a lot of him over the next ten days or so

There’s just over a week to go until Burns Night and the haggis are quivering in their hillside burrows.

A number of 5pm restaurants are running special Burns evenings.

As always, Glasgow’s Stravaigin is approaching Burns Night in their own sweet way. Next Friday, they are serving Mexican haggis and Spanish haggis alongside the more traditional Scottish version of the dish. A dram of Black Bottle will help wash it down. Tickets are £10.

At the Ubiquitous Chip, a tenner will bag you venison or veggie haggis plus a dram in the Brasserie but the big hoolie is taking place on Sunday 27 January.

Along with a four course dinner and whisky, the entertainment includes a piper and orator, live music and a ceilidh with The Last Train to Auchenshoogle. Tickets are £55 a head.

If you can’t wait that long, the Òran Mór Burns Night is taking place on Friday 25 January. Held in the Auditorium, the night promises poetry, food, music and whisky. Entertainment will also be provided by Sirens of Titan Choir, Sandy Nelson and Susan Nisbet.
