Richmond Bar

The recently opened Richmond bar on Park Road is adding to the merriment in Glasgow’s Gibson Street area.

The building that once housed Bar Bolo has been completely refurbished and now houses the rather swish Richmond bar and diner.

Dark wood paneling, plump Chesterfield style seating and exposed stone work all vie for attention with a striking bar.

The menu is upmarket bar food so the Richmond hot dog comes with truffle mayo, pancetta and jalapeno peppers. It also costs £11. There is no steak and ale pie here – instead, steak and Barolo pie is on offer.

Pickled Bloody Mary

The extensive cocktail list is fun. The pickled and smoked Bloody Mary sounds the sort of thing that would kill or cure a hangover.

The Richmond is in good company with the Left Bank and Stravaigin fulfilling much the same bar diner function nearby.

Incidentally, the team behind The Richmond are said to have plans for the old Cafe Mao site in the Merchant City and are also planning to relaunch The Cross Keys in Bishopbriggs after an extensive refit.

Possibly, at least  judging by their Facebook activity, the long awaited launch of Hyde Bar and Diner on Partick Bridge Street may be imminent.

We’ll bring you the skinny as we get it.
