Late last year, there was a storm in a teacup concerning The Haven, a small caff in Leith which suddenly found itself at the top of TripAdvisor’s Edinburgh restaurant listings.

Obviously, newspaper reports jumped on the story; all loving the fact that The Haven had seemingly trumped all of the capital’s five Michelin-starred restaurants.

Writing in The Telegraph, Matthew Norman puts the story in the context of other journalistic hardy perennials along with a well crafted review of The Haven which sings its praises without glossing over the few, small negatives. It’s a good read.
