So, Monday morning and we have blue skies and bright sunshine. If it wasn’t minus two then you could almost imagine that spring had sprung.

But while the snowdrops may be reluctant to make an appearance, new restaurants have been poking their heads above ground at a rate of knots.

One of the more recent is Spice Fusion in Baillieston. Formerly China Palace, the Main Street restaurant has come up with a solution for people who can’t decide what type of food they want to eat.

A la carte & buffet

At Spice Fusion, diners can choose from menus which offer Indian, Italian, Mexican and Chinese dishes. As well as the a la carte menus, there is also a buffet offering Indian and Chinese dishes alongside a small selection of Italian and Mexican tapas.

Featuring some 30 drinks including the house chilli cocktail, the cocktail list at Spice Fusion offers plenty of variety.

Over on the other side of the M8, we hear that the team behind The Street and Elbow bars have plans for the Balfour Bar on Leith Walk. In its old guise, the bar was what might politely be called a traditional, locals’ bar.

Radical change

If The Street and Elbow are anything to go by then The Balfour is in for a radical change.

The new venture follows in the footsteps of bars such as Boda, Victoria’s and the Brass Monkey which have done much to alter the face of Leith Walk’s drinking options.
