Following on from our earlier post about Taste of Edinburgh cancelling this year’s event, we’ve had a release from Justin Clarke, CEO of Taste Festivals:
“After a huge amount of consideration, we have taken the difficult decision not to run Taste of Edinburgh this year.
“We’re proud to have been involved in the running of the event over the past six years. Nearly 150,000 foodie fans have enjoyed the festival since it began and we’ve had unprecedented support from local restaurants, chefs, suppliers, the City of Edinburgh Council and sponsors who’ve put in a great deal of hard work to deliver an amazing experience.
“The obvious economic difficulties combined with the challenges we faced last year have unfortunately made the event unviable in 2013.
“Edinburgh has really embraced the event over the years and I’d like to thank everyone who has come along and supported us. It’s been a tough decision not to return but we have lots of ideas for the future and we hope to be back at some point.”
