The Taste of Edinburgh festival, which has taken place for the last six years in the capital, won’t be going ahead this year.
Torrential rain meant that last year’s Taste was pulled after the opening night leading to thousands of tickets being refunded.
However, according to a Scotsman report, the organisers point to a lack of financial support from local bodies as the main factor in this year’s festival being cancelled.
The firm behind the Taste festivals was recently bought by a larger events company which seems to be consolidating its UK activities. There will be just one Taste festival in the UK this year and it will be held in London. In previous years, Taste festivals have also taken place in Birmingham and Bath.
The Foodies Festivals continue to thrive. Seven have been announced so far this year with the Edinburgh Foodies Festival taking place at Inverleith Park on the weekend of Friday 9th-Sunday 11th August.
