Hardeep Singh Kohli will be cooking up the comedy

Cafe India in Glasgow’s Merchant City is firing on all cylinders at the moment. Not only are they running a tasty looking Big Deal on lunches today but they are also hosting an evening of curry and comedy with Hardeep Singh Kohli next week.

The comedian, broadcaster and renowned foodie will be entertaining diners on Thursday 28th March with live entertainment and a three course meal which he has devised.

Cabaret

It’s going to be a cabaret style night with a welcome drink on arrival; spots from Hardeep and his Indian meal which promises to fuse Indian and Asian flavours.

Tickets are £35 a head and the evening runs 6.30pm-10.30pm. Book on 0141 552 5115.

If you can’t make the Hardeep feast then you could console yourself with today’s Big Deal at Cafe India.

3 course feast

The full details are on the Big Deal page but, essentially, £15.95 buys a three course feast of great Indian food, a saving of up to 50% on standard prices.

Established in 1987, Cafe India is one of Glasgow’s longest running Indian restaurants. It’s settling well into its new Merchant City home on Albion Street after a fire destroyed the original in Charing Cross.

There is a big market for serving tried and tested Anglo-Indian dishes and Cafe India has them on the menu.

Innovative

Their kitchen brigade also believes in updating time served Indian cooking techniques and the restaurant’s menus offer an innovative alternative to many more trad menus.

In addition, all of the restaurant’s main ingredients are delivered from the markets each day. This fresh, locally sourced produce is cooked to order for each table.

The theatre-style open kitchen means that diners can watch as the highly skilled chefs work their magic.

By the way, their new way of approaching Indian cooking means that Cafe India aims to be as healthy as possible: low fat sauces; no ghee and chicken which is steamed or grilled.
