‘Great music, great food, great drinks’ is the plain talking aim at the recently opened Bar Gumbo on Glasgow’s Byres Road.
Formerly The Common Room, the new place takes its cue from the Deep South.
Soul food is the name of the game on the menus. Think along the lines of BBQ pulled pork, blackened Cajun catfish, mustard greens and pickled pork, shrimp le gumbo, fried crawfish tails, jalapeno cornbread and po-boy sandwiches.
Cocktails and cold beers complete the attractions alongside a busy schedule of live music. Jazz and blues to French hip hop are cited as likely genres and, according to their Facebook page, previous band nights at Bar Gumbo have gone down a storm.
