Tattoo or lunch? Lunch or tattoo? Mother’s Day gifts can be tricky

Understandably, every restaurant in Scotland is currently trying to promote their Mother’s Day lunches. If you are still looking for somewhere to take your dear old Mum this Sunday then you can browse all the available 5pm restaurants and their Mother’s Day menus from here.

Simply type your location, the number of diners and 10/03/13 into the date field of the booking box.

While we would love to boost every 5pm restaurant running a Mother’s Day menu we simply don’t have the space on the blog. However, we can point you towards the more left field ideas.

Mother’s Day movie

On Monday, we drew your attention to Glasgow’s Arisaig and their requests for films to be screened in Merchant Square on Mothering Sunday.

We also liked the offering from the Tiki Bar and Kitsch Inn on Bath Street. This Saturday and Sunday they are offering two courses from their main menu for £17 per person.

Hard liquor

The offer includes a special Mother’s Day cocktail which is, of course, called the Mum Bongo.

No? Made us laugh.

Moving away from the restaurants, we also chuckled over the Mother’s Day offer at Snow Factor in Braehead. This weekend, for every lift pass bought for a child, they are offering one hour free skiing or snowboarding to the mums.

We hate to generalise but suspect that most mums would prefer to let their offspring get on with it while they take up Snow Factor’s other offer of a free dessert and glass of wine for every paying child eating at their new Bar Varia restaurant (see what they did there?).
