Scottish ingredients such as langoustines are championed at Arisaig

The 5pm Restaurant blog had a brilliant night at the Feast of Scotland event held at Arisaig in Glasgow’s Merchant Square a couple of weeks back.

As a result, we had an interesting chat with Head Chef Steven Tweedie and, as part of our Chewin’ the Fat series of interviews, we’ll be posting the conversation on the blog in a couple of weeks time.

Tight ship

All we’re saying is never turn up for a shift in his kitchen with a hangover – his early years in the kitchen taught him to run a tight ship.

Looking ahead, there are a couple of fun events taking place at Arisaig in the next ten days.

Wine dinner

First up is a Call My Bluff wine dinner which is being held this Thursday at the restaurant. Starting at 7pm, the evening will take the format of a two course dinner and wine tasting.

Guests will taste six Italian wines and listen to some rather tall tales from the two wine experts present. Then you’ll have to guess who’s telling the truth, a task which may well be complicated by vino.

Whisky tasting

Arisaig is also hosting a Call My Bluff Whisky tasting on the 18th of April.

Held in association with The Whisky Ambassadors, it promises to be a fun whisky tasting evening. Again a two course dinner is included in the price along with the five whiskies to be tasted.

Both events cost £25 a head per event and can be booked on 0141 553 1010.
