Keeping on truckin’ with Loving Food

Looking with envy at the food truck scene in London and San Francisco, the 5pm Restaurant blog has often wished that more people would kick start something similar in Scotland.

Edinburgh’s Elephant Juice Soup have been making a good stab at the idea for a year or so now and the Farmers’ Market circuit usually attracts some interesting players such as the Babu Bombay Street Kitchen Team.

Jail bait

However, the more the merrier is our motto so we were chuffed to hear that the new Loving Food company are planning to launch a street food truck outside Stirling Old Town Jail on Friday 3rd May from 11am – 3pm.

Aiming to provide ‘trucking good street food’ such as fresh griddled flatbreads filled with slow-cooked pulled pork, meatballs and tomato basil sauce, stovies, stews and soups, Sandra Milne and Stewart Pleace are the brains behind the venture. You can check out the menu here.

To celebrate the launch in Stirling, Loving Food will be serving up some of their dishes at a discounted price on Friday 3rd May.

Name that truck

Stewart and Sandra are also inviting all customers at the launch to name the truck which is the base of their business. It’s a 42-year-old converted Citroen H Van which the duo brought all the way from France. The customer who chooses the most fitting name for the vehicle will win a free lunch for a month from Loving Food.

Commenting on the launch of the new enterprise, owner Sandra Milne said; ‘Stewart and I are driven by a passion to bring fresh, quality and intriguing food together with people from all walks of life in Stirling and pave the way for a thriving street food scene in Scotland. The beauty of street food is that customers can have a new, ever-changing and exciting quality food experience that doesn’t break the bank.’

Street food celebrations

After the launch, Loving Food will have a regular base at Stirling Enterprise Park and will also be taking the truck to a number of events over the coming months including festivals, weddings, sporting events and their our own street food celebrations.
