Wine flights have lift off at La Bonne Auberge

Fancy wine with your meal but not sure which bottle will go best with your dishes? Even if there isn’t a dedicated sommelier, most restaurants have one member of staff who knows their way around the wine list and can make informed suggestions.

Wine flights

However, one Glasgow restaurant has launched a different way of encouraging customers to explore their wine list. La Bonne Auberge restaurant on West Nile Street has introduced wine flights. Priced from £5, these feature three 50ml glasses of different wines. Customers can compare them side by side and make up their own minds about which would best accompany their meal.

A variety of wines  are available in the flights, each of which have been hand selected by La Bonne Auberge’s Sommelier Sean Simpson, working in close partnership with the restaurant’s award winning Executive Chef, Gerry Sharkey.

Different palates

Sean explains:

‘At La Bonne Auberge, it is our belief that food and wine are intrinsically linked, and should be enjoyed together, in harmony, with each dish served being further enhanced by the wine which accompanies it… We totally understand that everyone’s palate is different so, now, rather than simply go with our recommendation, guests have the ability to cost effectively and responsibly select a number of different wines, and decide for themselves which wine, in their opinion, best suits the food.’

Big Deal on Private Dining

While on the subject of La Bonne Auberge, the 5pm Big Deal service is running a deal on private dining at the well established Theatreland brasserie. Click this way to see what’s on offer.
