Innis and Gunn Rum: pairs well with ice cream

The 5pm Restaurant blog is a big fan of Innis & Gunn beer and they are always up to something interesting when it comes to matching their beers and food.

Happy Birthday

The company recently reached  its tenth birthday and, as part of the celebrations, they have teamed up with the kitchen brigade at One Square in Edinburgh’s Sheraton Grand to develop a three course tasting menu where each course is paired with one of the Innis & Gunn oak-aged beers.

Here’s the menu:

Dill cured Loch Etive sea trout with a sweet mustard dressing and mini Hovis Loaf

Paired with Innis & Gunn Blonde: a light beer with gentle malt character, fruitiness and freshness from the hops

——————-

Pork Belly slow-braised for 13 hours with smoked mash and caramelised apple

Paired with Innis & Gunn Original: the original beer, packed with a hint of toffee and notes of biscuit malt and vanilla

——————-

Banana bread with banana caramel and I&G Rum finish ice cream

Paired with Innis & Gunn Rum Finish: a unique combination of specially-brewed beer, rum and oak-ageing make this beer really sing

Book here

This special tasting menu is available from 6pm  in One Square until the end of June. It costs £26.50 per head which includes half a bottle of each of the Innis & Gunn beers. You can book from here.

Mad Men

Sticking with One Square, we hear that they are launching a regular new event called the Sheraton Social Hour. We’ll bring you full details when we get them but, until then, let’s just imagine that it will be like every bar scene in Mad Men.
