[Blend your own whisky at Arisaig][1]
Blend your own whisky at Arisaig

It will be Father’s Day before long and many a Dad is doubtless dreading his drawers being filled with another pair of comedy socks.

A rather more classy idea might be to launch a pre-emptive strike and get the old man a couple of tickets to the whisky blending dinner taking place on Wednesday 13th June at Arisaig in Glasgow’s Merchant Square. If he likes whisky then this event is a rare opportunity for him to blend his own.

The evening starts with an introduction into the art of the master blender after which guests will have the opportunity to blend their own whisky, label it and take home a 100ml bottle of their own whisky.

Own blend

What Dad wouldn’t want to be able to ask his mates if they fancied a dram and then casually drop in the fact that they have blended it themselves?

This event costs £40 per person for the blending session and dinner or £15 per person for dinner only (spouses and partners are welcome to attend later for dinner if they don’t wish to take part in the blending session).

Here is the menu for the event:

To start

Soup of the day served with crusty bread

Trio of Scottish puddings: Stornoway black pudding, local white pudding and haggis

Arisaig fishcakes served with sweet chilli salsa

Smoked cheese and leek tart with rocket and roast tomatoes

Main course

Chicken breast with haggis, mixed greens and whisky sauce

Lemon and lime salmon with seasonal summer salad

Game sausages with creamy mash and onion gravy

Pea, broad bean and seasonal vegetable risotto with rocket, Parmesan and lemon dressing
