Centotre on Edinburgh’s George Street re-opened last night after a refresh of its interior.
The popular Italian restaurant is celebrating its tenth year in business and owners, Victor and Carina Contini, marked the occasion by giving the former bank premises a little facelift.
Finalists in the Italian section of the Scottish Restaurant Awards, Centotre has seem some exciting developments over the last couple of years.
Kitchen garden
The Continis have been tending a new kitchen garden in East Lothian with the plan of supplying their kitchens with produce they have grown themselves.
Victor has been particularly taken with the idea of becoming a bee keeper and is now the proud owner of three hives. Customers at both Centotre and the Continis’ Scottish Cafe and Restaurant can look forward to enjoying the house honey soon.
Apiaries and art
In fact, Victor is looking to spread his apiary empire. As Scotland on Sunday noted a couple of months back, Victor is talking to the National Galleries of Scotland to see if he could place a couple of hives on top of the National Gallery roof.
