The crisp ‘n’ crunchy prawn tempura at Nippon Kitchen

The 5pm blog’s attention may have been focused on festival shenanigans in Edinburgh over the last week or so but, as ever, Glasgow’s eating out scene continues to evolve at a rate of knots.

Fans of Japanese food will be chuffed to learn that the team behind Nanakusa on Sauchiehall Street have branched out and opened Nippon Kitchen on West George Street.

Handmade sushi, prepared to order, is the star of the menu but it wouldn’t do to overlook the tempura; yakitori dishes and wide range of rice and noodle-based dishes which Nippon Kitchen is offering.

Nippon Kitchen have joined 5pm and are currently offering a 20% discount to 5pm bookers who order from the main menu or sushi/sashimi menu.

Little Urban Achievers go for it

Just under a month ago, the blog spraffed on about the Little Urban Achievers Club being about to open on Great Western Road.

In fact, they didn’t greet their first customers until the last week of July but are now open and firing on all cylinders.

The latest from the Finnieston/Lebowski’s stable, Little Urban Achievers Club, or LUAC, offers a serious selection of hot dogs, pizza and sundaes.

Someone’s had a lot of fun with the menu item names. The pizza selection includes the Titty Twister and the Back, Crack and Sack.
