Slurping is encouraged at Wagamama

Fans of Asian food may be delighted to learn that Wagamama is to open its sixth Scottish site in Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre next Wednesday.

The second floor restaurant will have space for 96 diners as well as a further 26 seats on the mezzanine terrace.

Firecracker rice

You know the score on the food front. The noodle dishes are the mainstay of the menu but there are plenty of customers who go loco for their chicken katsu curry, firecracker rice, and pad Thai options.

Apparently, the average Wagamama gets through 7kg of chillies a week.

Is that a lot? We’re not offering to eat them all ourselves in one huge, fiery go but that doesn’t seem a huge amount to the chilli-loving staff of the 5pm Dining blog.

Posh noodles

In other noodle news, Kabuto Instant Noodles were launched recently. They may be instant noodles but they are positioning themselves at the posh end of the noodle spectrum.

We didn’t know that noodles had a posh end but they presumably want to create some clear blue space between their own offer and their defiantly non-posh Pot Noodle competitors.

Anyway, whatever class of noodles they may be, Kabuto have had the smart idea of encouraging their customers to produce noodle art and post it using the tag #NoodleDoodle.
