Sygn in Edinburgh’s West End has a fresh new look

As the 5pm Dining blog mentioned last week, Sygn on Edinburgh’s Charlotte Lane has recently relaunched after an extensive refurbishment.

The West End bar was always one of Edinburgh’s hipper hangouts and the new look has only improved things.

Menu makeover

Their menu has also had a makeover. There are lots of burgers on offer and some intriguing, stone-baked pizza.

This 5pm blogger is writing this post at lunchtime and I’m getting a serious hankering for the pizza topped with pulled lamb, peas, sweet onions and Parmesan.

New take on haute cuisine

The anti pasti plates and sharing platters (anyone want to go halves on a baked Camembert?) look good and we have to give top marks to whoever decided that Sygn‘s range of gourmet hot dogs should be known as haute dogs.

Sygn has always been known for its cocktails. The latest list has plenty of tempting options. Barrel-aged cocktails are very fashionable at the moment and Sygn’s selection includes a barrel-aged tequila Negroni.

It’s made with Don Julio blanco tequila, Gancia Rosso sweet vermouth and Campari. The ingredients are aged in a lightly charred, oak barrel for 6-8 weeks before being bottled.

Free cocktails

Sygn are currently offering a 15% discount on the food bill when eating from their a la carte menu if you book through 5pm Dining.

What’s more, they will even add in a free cocktail.

Is your Monday seeming a little brighter?
