Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood: putting baking on a pedestal

The temperature is dropping; the nights are fair drawing in and, jings, even the leaves are turning colour. It can mean only one thing – time for the BBC Good Food Show Scotland to settle into the SECC.

MasterChef cook-off

Taking place from Friday 18-Sun 20 October, the event promises a stellar line-up of pro chefs and amateur pan-rattlers off the telly. Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will be in the Supertheatre as will John Torode who will be overseeing a MasterChef style cook-off between Ade Edmondson and Natalie Coleman. Si King, James Martin and our very own Tom Kitchin complete the Supertheatre line-up.

For the first time, all advance tickets include a seat in the Supertheatre so visitors won’t have to cough up extra to see their favourite celebrity chefs. The full timetable for the Supertheatre is here.

Scotland Land of Food & Drink

Also new for 2013 is the Scotland, Land of Food & Drink Regional Village. Designed to highlight the richness and diversity of the country’s natural larder, this area gives visitors the chance to meet producers as well as tasting and buying local products direct from their makers. Think of it as a farmers’ market but without the rain or the early start.

Finally, since we have all gone baking daft, there is one further new addition: The Great British Bake Off Village. If you have ever wondered how to prevent soggy bottoms and other great baking mishaps then this is your ‘hood.

Advance tickets cost from £18.25.
