The food looks as good as the views at Two Fat Ladies in the Marine Hotel

Just under a month ago, the 5pm Dining blog revealed that the Two Fat Ladies group of restaurants were to open a new branch in the Marine Hotel in Troon.

After a five figure refurbishment of the dining room – check out the fabulous fishy frieze created by artist Jo Anne Ferrie – the Two Fat Ladies of Troon is now taking bookings and welcoming diners to its snazzy new home.

Chef Andrew Beattie is the man with the plan at the kitchen range and he is delivering a menu packed with Two Fats favourites.

While the Two Fats restaurants are best known for their fish dishes, seafood is not by any means the only string to their bow.

So, the selection of starters on any given night might include a mussel and razor clam risotto with chorizo and Parmesan or a pressed game terrine with plum and ginger chutney.

Typical main courses could be the pan-fried scallops with Stornoway black pudding, smoked haddock and samphire cream or the poached supreme of chicken filled with wild mushrooms, spinach and saffron barley and Arran mustard cream.

Wine dinner

Meanwhile, back in the Two Fats HQ in The Buttery, the team are preparing for a wine matching dinner with Alban De Gerin from Domaine Henri Bourgeois.

The menu and wines can be seen here.

The fun starts from 7pm on October 21st.
